Grad Student's research featured on cover of journal
Stephen Budy, a graduate student in Prof. Doug Loy's research group, is featured on the cover of the January 2012 issue of Acta Crystallographica Section C: Crystal Structure Communications, which specializes in the rapid dissemination of high-quality detailed studies of novel and challenging crystal and molecular structures of interest in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, mineralogy, pharmacology, physics and materials science.
The cover shows a molecule that Stephen synthesized as a model compound for his studies of polyarylene electrolytes.
Back in August, 2011, Stephen was awarded a 2011 U.S. Department of Energy Innovations in Fuel Cycle Research Award for his paper, "Sulfonated Polyarylene via Friedel-Crafts Reactions: Synthesis and Characterization."
