SPIE names John McCloy fellow

John McCloy, who graduated from the University of Arizona in 2008 with a PhD in MSE, was selected as a fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).
SPIE selects fellows for their significant scientific and technical contributions in optics and imaging and for service to the professional optics community. He is one of 47 fellows elected to the class of 2025.
“SPIE was my first professional society, and it has followed and influenced my career for more than two decades,” McCloy said. “It’s an honor to be recognized by my colleagues.”
McCloy now works as a professor and director of Washington State University’s School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. He also serves as a fellow of the American Ceramic Society and has authored more than 300 technical publications.
