MSE Grad Student Selected As Fulbright Recipient
Catherine Klesner, a graduate student in both MSE and the School of Anthropology, was recently was recently named a Fulbright student. Klesner plans to use her Fulbright award to work with the archaeometry group at the National Center for Scientific Research in Greece, where she will help reverse-engineer Byzantine-era lead-glazed ceramic technology.
"I chose to attend the University of Arizona for my PhD because of its history of interdisciplinary research in archaeological science," Klesner said. "UA has a strong tradition in several areas of archaeological science, including the study of ceramic and glass technology, and has the institutional knowledge and willingness to support my research."
Klesner is one of 20 University of Arizona Fulbright awardees this year, a university record. The Institute of International Education named the University of Arizona a top producer of Fulbright students, ranking it No. 14 among all U.S. research institutions.
