MSE Professor Interviewed by AZPM

Arizona Public Media caught up with professor of MSE Pierre Deymier to talk about his research concerning how people perceive sound.

Interviewer Leslie Tolbert, professor emerita of neuroscience, spoke with Deymier about his new research center funded by the National Science Foundation called the New Frontiers of Sound.

"Over the last 30 years, there has been interest in what I call 'phononic crystals,'" Deymier said. "These are special, composite materials that have extraordinary properties in terms of the propagation of acoustic waves or sound."
