ASM Materials Camp–Teachers
UA MSE hosted the Second Annual ASM Materials Camp-Teachers, a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) summer program. School teachers from Pima, Cochise and Maricopa counties participated in an idea-generating workshop in June. The camp provides high school and middle school STEM teachers with amazing materials-centric labs and demos that they can bring back to their classrooms to teach basic concepts in math and science. This is a proven program that serves to strengthen curriculum in STEM and helps students discover career opportunities in science and engineering. The ASM Foundation offers these free events to teachers every year and UA Materials Science. Since its inception at UA last year, over 35 teachers from Arizona have been introduced to methods that make math and core science principles more enticing and relevant to their middle and high school students.
